Dear friends,
Last month, our work in Honduras continued as we returned for our fourth consecutive year of planting!
We'd like to share a snippet from our first day there, as we gathered with community leaders in Santa Elena, Santa Cruz de Yojoa to establish a new community orchard while also distributing more than 700 diverse fruit and native trees to the community.
The gathering provided a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas and share practical knowledge as community leaders prepared to bring these trees into neighborhoods, homes, schools, and public spaces across Santa Elena.
Jason Castillo, an agricultural technician who works with producers throughout the region, shared:
"We are fortunate to have Cerro Azul Meámbar National Park, Santa Bárbara National Park, and Lake Yojoa surrounding us. This is a wonderful initiative – not only because it supports reforestation, but because these trees will also provide food that our families can enjoy in their homes and in the public spaces where they are planted."
This vital work is made possible thanks to FTPF's amazing partners SHARE Foundation, Radio Progreso, and ERIC (Equipo de Reflexión, Investigación y Comunicación) for bringing these projects to life for families in Honduras. A special shoutout as well to our decade-long volunteer Tony for lending his incredible talents in agriculture and multimedia during this campaign!
If you are able, a donation toward planting and maintaining these orchards would be deeply appreciated as we continue building food security and climate resilience across Honduras!
To a fruitful and resilient season ahead,
The FTPF Team
