Hundreds of workers and citizens took to the streets in Wau, South Sudan second largest city on Friday to protest against the increased of cost of living, and salary in arrears as the leaders warned the country’s economic woes were reaching a crisis point.
Protesters in Wau city, west east of Juba, demonstrated over raising prices of goods and services, and salary in arrears which they said were not matched by current wage structures.
A yawning public sector deficit, a falling local currency and high inflation have heaped pressure on South Sudan, which before independence was seen as a promising emerging economy in East Africa.
We are pleased that you had been supporting Give Fruit & a Greener Environment project for years.
At a time of this reporting:
Your cash you donated through GlobalGivng and funds from secondary sources you supplied the project with following varieties of fruit trees and these are: 6 mangos seedlings, 2 jack fruit seedlings, and 3 avocado seedlings. These seedlings made their way to project site before the starts of torrential rain. Thank you also to pay for the transportation cost. The fruits are important future generations and for the environment.
The villagers are keen to see this project achieve its aim by participating in the activities of this project. They need your help to plant 10 acres of variety of fruit seedlings, but without outside help they cannot do much.
In a third quarter, the project posts a new field update so that you get to know the impact of your contributions. Thanks for always standing with “Give Fruit and Greener Environment Project- South Sudan”.
