No fruit! No life

By William Logai Ochieng | Executive director

Passion fruit is delicious!
Passion fruit is delicious!

Thanks for your continued gift to give fruits in South Sudan.
Your continued support together with donations from other sources helped a project to buy 20 avocado seedlings, 15 yellow banana seedlings, and 50 passion fruit seedlings. Hope Ofiriha distributes these seedlings to the village families who are interested to plant fruit trees to provide nutritious food and boost a local economy in the future. Hope Ofiriha has not delivered the seeds due to insecurity concern in Magwi County. We are recommencing an operation in earlier April to supply the beneficiaries with the seedlings.

Hope Ofiriha will send a new field update after a quarter, so you get to know the progress your gift is impacting from the ground.

Owinyikibul villagers clashed with new recruits in earlier March.
The government and the opposition have failed to reach a peace deal despite the pressure from IGAD, UN, and the World. There are new fierce clashes in Jonglei and Upper Nile States. Humanitarian situation is worsening. There are 1.5 million people displaced from their villages of which some are living in exile as refugees.

In Owinyikibul of Magwi County, new soldiers recruit clashed with local villagers earlier March. The drunken soldier had refused to pay for the services where he was stabbed in a bar fighting. He then organized his fellow recruits burning more than 100 houses and market stalls in retaliation. One recruit in the clashes. A chief has blamed the trainers for failing to keep discipline.
