In Namizi village, Jinja, Eastern Uganda, 400+ children lack access to quality education due to inadequate infrastructure. Joy Makers charity established a primary school with temporary wooden structures, but these pose safety risks and hinder learning. Our project aims to build 2 permanent brick classroom blocks, provide basic sanitation facilities, furnish desks, chairs, and learning material, support teacher training and capacity building and create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
In Namizi community, kids attend school in temporary wooden structures that are not safe or conducive for learning. This, coupled with basic sanitation issues and a shortage of educational materials, severely hampers their ability to succeed academically. The distance to primary schools also contributes to high dropout rates, as many children are lured into child labor in fishing and sugarcane cutting. As a result, literacy levels remain low, perpetuating the cycle of poverty in the community.
By replacing temporary wooden structures, we will eliminate issues related to safety, health and comfort. The new classrooms will include essential sanitation facilities and be equipped with educational materials, enhancing the overall learning experience. Additionally, by establishing a reliable primary school nearby, we will increase access to quality education, reduce dropout rates and child labor, and keep children engaged in their education, empowering them to build a brighter future.
Establishing permanent educational facilities will foster continuous learning and devt in the community. It will also enhance the quality of education leading to improved student performance and graduation rates. Involving local artisans in construction promotes job creation and skills development, strengthening the community's economy. ultimately, educated children will contribute to the community's growth, breaking the cycle of poverty and inspiring future generations to pursue their dreams.
