Project Background
The from Mud Floors to Modern Classrooms project was initiated to improve the learning environment at Crown Nursery and Primary School in Bugadde Village, Mayuge District, Uganda. The school serves more than 600 children from the surrounding communities and continues to face significant infrastructure challenges. These include temporary classroom structures that become muddy and difficult to use during the rainy season, as well as an inadequate number of desks, resulting in many pupils sitting on the floor during lessons.
The project's primary objective is to construct permanent classroom blocks and provide sufficient classroom desks to create a safe, comfortable, and conducive learning environment that supports quality education.
Current Project Status
As of the date of this report, no physical implementation activities have commenced. The project remains at the planning and resource mobilization stage.
African Soul Initiative has not yet secured the financial resources required to begin construction works or procure classroom furniture. Consequently, there have been no changes to the existing conditions at Crown Nursery and Primary School since the project proposal was developed.
The identified challenges continue to affect both learners and teachers, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall when the temporary classrooms become difficult to use. The shortage of desks also remains unresolved, with many pupils still studying while seated on the floor.

Although no construction or procurement activities have taken place, African Soul Initiative has continued to:

Conclusion
The From Mud Floors to Modern Classrooms project remains an important priority for African Soul Initiative. However, no progress has been made in terms of physical implementation due to the absence of funding. The organization remains committed to mobilizing the necessary resources and looks forward to implementing the project as soon as financial support becomes available.
African Soul Initiative appreciates the continued interest and support of partners, donors, and stakeholders and remains hopeful that this initiative will soon transition from planning to implementation for the benefit of the pupils and the wider Bugadde community.
