Ethiopia's conflict-affected youth are living at the intersection of trauma, unemployment, and lost educational opportunity. Many are at risk of recruitment into violence, early marriage, or lifelong poverty. Yet, they are also the greatest untapped force for peace and progress. Through this project, Face Up Generation Aid Organization (FUGAO) will empower 2,000 youth with skills, healing, and hope. We will train them to become builders of peace, business, and community resilience.
Ethiopia is home to over 11 million youth affected by conflict - many displaced, unemployed, traumatized, and out of school. Without intervention: Youth are vulnerable to violence, extremism, and poverty. Girls face high risk of GBV, early marriage, and education dropout. Communities remain divided and unstable without youth inclusion in recovery. Over 3 million youth dropped out of school due to war and crisis. Youth unemployment in Ethiopia exceeds 30% in rural areas.
