Successful Graduates of Second Batch of DIT

On 15 February 2026, the second batch of Diploma in Information Technology completed their technical training as apprentices. This Diploma Course was focused towards the provision of IT based skill training to ensure sustainable livelihood for youth and women empowerment.

During the Diploma in Information Technology, the apprentices were given theoretical and practical frameworks for four certificate courses that were completed, and as a result of them being completed in consecutive sequence, the diploma was thence granted. These courses were:

  • Web Designing
  • Graphic Designing
  • Basic Computers and Office Automation with InPage Urdu typesetting
  • Foundations of Linux, and Basics of Virtualization for Networking and Sustainable Windows Usage

The theoretical sections were composed of one hour lectures where the apprentices would complete a set of instructions, and then in the practical sections they were given two hours to practice assignments that were allocated to them, whilst at the same time they undertook self-study with reference to the lecture notes.

The apprentices were given full access to ten computers which were equipped with the following

  • Hardware
  1. Core i3 2nd Gen
  2. DDR3 8GB 1333MHz RAM
  3. 3.5in 80GB Mechanical Hard Disk Drive (with one having 2.5in Mechanical Hard Disk Drive 320GB)
  4. Keyboard
  5. Mouse
  6. Monitor connected via VGA Cable
  7. USB Ports
  8. DVD(R/W) Drive
  • Software
  1. Zorin OS 18 Core Linux Operating System
  2. QEMU/Virt-Manager Virtualization Software
  3. ONLYOFFICE and LibreOffice
  4. Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Virtual Machine with Office 2021 LTSC Professional, Adobe Illustrator 2020, Adobe Photoshop 2018, CorelDRAW 2019 and Adobe Dreamweaver 2018

Furthermore, foundations of Linux was allocated time to highlight the importance of Free and Open Source Software Philosophy as well as to identify the differences between Linux and Windows OS, as well as providing basic exposure to the mechanisms by which sustainable liveilhood can be attained through the utility of Linux.

The apprentices were appreciative of the course and further were also pleased that the resources stated above were available to them even after they completed the course, so that they could complete freelancing related work and have sustainable livelihood.

Our plan is to expand the course so that we have ten laptops in addition to the above, as this will allow us to further improve upon the systems provided. These facilities will be sustainable sources and will significantly improve the overall delivery modalities for the institute.

We thank you, benevolent donor, as we conclude this report, with your constant support of these apprentices. They are all from very socioeconomically deprived parts of the country. On top of nearly 48% of the population of Pakistan now living below the poverty line, it is clear that the future for these youth and women is important to be ascertained and resolved promptly. And we hope that we will be able to achieve this, a small percentage at a time.

We thank you once again, and we look forward to sharing further significant updates soon.
