Every day girls around the world are fighting for their freedom. This International Day of the Girl we are standing with them and taking action for #FreedomForGirls. Donate now to support girl-led change.
Gender inequalities are deep-rooted in all societies. Girls and women face ongoing challenges such as violence, trafficking, female genital mutilation, child marriage, a lack of access to sexual and reproductive health and rights, education and equal opportunities. Girl-led organisations frequently lack the resources they need to operate effectively and achieve their mission - less than 2 cents of every $1 spent on international aid is directed towards adolescent girls.
Girl-led organisations are on the frontlines of responding to girls' needs and driving change. Rooted in girls' own realities and led by girls, these organisations have the greatest potential to propel change that is truly transformational. Since 2015, the With and For Girls Collective has run a global awards initiative to recognise and reward outstanding girl-led grassroots organisations working to create a world where girls' rights and well-being are recognised, respected and realised.
We champion the collective action of girls as agents of change. We believe that when girls organise, they and their organisations can play a leading role in transforming societies and building gender equality. To date, we have awarded 40 inspiring organisations from 31 different countries and will award 20 more in November 2017. The Award package includes flexible funding, profile raising and capacity building support, as well as access to a community of practice.
