2.0 Relaunch and Continued Development of Tools

By Taylor Poe | Freedom Collaborative Manager & Designer

As promised, over the last quarter we released Freedom Registry 2.0! It includes an interactive data visualization map of registered organizations, updates to the user experience and also the launch of our API. To learn more about what those entail, please watch the release video we put together.

We had a young advocate write us from Cincinnati to say:

"This is an amazing tool!... ...I just used it to find organizations registered within my area! Sure enough there are two. Union Bethel, which led me to Anna Louise Inn. I knew about Anna Louise because i work down the road from this Inn…  ...The Registry is beautiful as well as informative, considering I found news of this organization... ...Sometimes i shock myself at how unaware I am of things that are happening right next to me, of which i take full responsibility for.

Continue to do your good work!

Sarah Tobias"

As the release video mentions, our API is now up and any researcher or developer is able to pull the data out of the Freedom Registry in real-time. Our hope is that this will enable better connectivity between organiations and for the community to build tools for each other while sharing a common data ecosystem. Here is a link to a screenshot of a data visualization application that an interaction design student is working on in the Washington State area. Many other developers have also expressed interest in tying in their tools and we are working with them to ensure interoperability.

In November of this year we will be releasing an additional suite of tools called 'Freedom Collaborative.' It will tie into and enhance the existing Freedom Registry application. We will then simultaneously open the projects into the international space! For more information on this suite, please visit its website or contact info@freedomcollaborative.org.
