Summary

Back in 2007 and 2009 (respectively), 2 Colombian citizens were accused of kidnapping and organized crime based on false testimonies; later condemned to heavy jail sentences (respectively 47 and 60 years). Gathering new evidence using of forensic technologies is their only hope to prove their innocence. Forensic tech. is indeed an expensive tool (around 7.500 USD for one complete investigation). But it has already had the greatest results in North America.

Challenge

In a time where the COVID-19 crisis has forced us to take a pause in many, if not most, of our regular activities, we cannot allow the fight for justice to slow down. Jose Luis Rincon and Victor Alfonso Galindo are two Colombian citizens, unjustly condemned to essentially life-time sentences based of false testimonies. Fortunately, new evidence based on the use of modern forensic technologies to be presented in court will give us the best chances to free these two innocent men from prison.

Solution

Donations will be used to cover the costs of forensic technology that will provide the irrefutable evidence of Jose Luis and Victor Alfonso's innocence. Once presented, we will petition for a new trial if the charges are not immediately dropped. Forensic technology is particularly effective, but expensive to access. Our pro bono team will work with paid investigators to ensure the best outcome.

Long-Term Impact

Forensic technologies have already shown highly effective results in freeing the innocents in the US and Canada. Yet, they are still largely unknown to the Colombian Justice System. We will first apply the new defence strategy based on the use of forensic technologies to the cases of Jose Luis Rincon and Victor Alfonso Galindo Valencia. Then, we will apply the strategy to other cases of wrongfully convicted Colombians.
