By Narendra Negi | Project Coordinator, Agewell Foundation
During the first six months of this financial year (starting from 1st April 2015 to 30th September 2015) Agewell Foundation distributed 54wheelchairs and 440 walkers to destitute elderly living in slums of Delhi & NCR (national capital territory) through its volunteers. All these beneficiaries were facing acute mobility related problems before getting these equipment as their families could not afford these equipment for them due to their poor financial status. These healthcare equipment transformed their life to a great extent.
Simultaneously, Agewell Foundation has also provided Adult Diapers to 30 bedridden/elderly patients on a regular basis for past six months. They were identified by Agewell volunteers and selected under the project. They were forced to live in inhuman condition due to poverty and neglect by their family and society. Regular supply of Adult diapers helped these elderly and their family members a lot in maintaining hygiene and cleanliness around them.
Currently, Agewell Foundation's old age healthcare project is being supported by local contributors.
