Many schoolchildren with poor eyesight struggle to read, write, and see the board clearly. This project will provide free eyeglasses to children who need them but cannot afford the cost. With clearer vision, they will be able to follow lessons, do homework, and take part in school activities without difficulty.
Over 1,500 Children in public schools with poor vision often fall behind in school because they cannot see the blackboard, read books, or copy notes properly. Many families cannot afford eye tests or prescription glasses, and the problem goes unnoticed. As a result, children are labeled as lazy or slow, when the real issue is uncorrected sight problems.
The project will provide 1,500 free vision screening for schoolchildren and supply 500 eyeglasses to those who need them. Trained health workers will visit schools to check eyesight and distribute glasses that match each child's prescription. Children who receive glasses will also be shown how to care for them.
When children can see clearly, they participate more actively in class and perform better in school. This can also lead to better learning, improved self-confidence, and fewer dropouts. Giving glasses to children who need them helps remove a simple but serious barrier to education.
