Fall 2012 Report on MBS Jalpaiguri Project
By Robin Rossmanith | Development Coordinator
Thanks to your donations and the support from several charitable foundations, the MBS Jewelry Center is runnig in the Darjeeling area in India. We continue to partner with Women's Interlink Foundation in this endeavour. Girls are being trained in artisan goldsmithing in Jalpaiguri. An expert designer came in for a time to do some initial training. Now the girls are being trained and supervised by Soma.
Soma began jewelry making at the Made By Survivors Calcutta Jewelry Center. She quickly picked up the skills and even began creating designs of her own. Not only does Soma excel in jewelry making and design but she has also learned the business skills for managing a jewelry business. Soma even has started her own jewelry business. We are so proud of her.
Soma can relate with the survivors in the MBS programs. She comes from a disheartening situation, while not trafficked, she was abused and mistreated. Her abilities in jewelry are matched by her empathy and compassion. Soma is a wonderful trainer, mentor, and role model for the girls at the Jalpaiguri jewelry center. They see Soma as someone they can become - to rise out of their past into a bright future.
Thanks for being a part of creating bright futures for the girls in Jalpaiguri. Please visit our
website to purchase some of the beautiful pieces of handmade silver jewelry they have created.

2012 Summer Report For Free Forever in Jalpaiguri
By Robin Rossmanith | Development Director
Programs started in Jalpaiguri on April 18th!
We are currently using borrowed space to provide services for survivors and at risk groups in Jalpaiguri. Girls are safe from those who harmed them and are given the space and time to heal. We seeking a place to purchase or construct a permanent shelter and employment center with Women's Interlink Foundation.
The employment center will provide the livelihood skills and job opportunities that will allow survivors to become financially independent. The wages they earn making jewelry, textiles, and leather pieces give survivors spending or saving money. The goal is for survivors to have the opportunity to live independently when she has been healed and restored from the trauma of human trafficking.
Thank you for helping to make 100 Girls Free Forever in Jalpaiguri, India.

By Robin | Development Director
Thank for your donation to the Make 100 Girls Free in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
Good news ... in late February T.E.N. Chairities/Made By Survivors received a grant in the amount of $50,000 to help support this project! How exciting. We are so much closer to breaking ground for the shelter and employment center.
We now have less than $20,000 to raise for the construction and start up expenses to establish the shelter and employment center. Thank you so much for partnering with Made By Survivors to make 100 girls free from slavery and exploitation in Jalpaiguri.
On March 14th, Global Giving will match up to 30% any donations given through the Global Giving site. Please consider making a donation this Wednesday, March 14th to Make 100 Girls Free Forever in Jalpaiguri and sharing about the project & bonus day on March 14th.
