During Earth Week, April 22-28, 2019, Clean Sweep Frederiksted (CSF) hosted a community Spring and Tire Clean Up. We invited the community to choose a day, time and location to conduct individual or group clean-ups throughout the community. CSF provided bags, gloves, and water for participating volunteers. We also provided the community with a dumpster to place improperly disposed of tires that regularly litter the community.
Approximately, 10 volunteers signed up for the spring clean up. This does not include individuals who dropped off tires at the dumpster or conducted cleanups in their immediate neighborhood as a result of this initiative. Additionally, approximately 75 improperly disposed tires were removed from the streets.
Clean Sweep Frederiksted continues to conduct episodic clean up at the request of individuals and groups. We partnered with the Vi Department of Tourism during their annual tourism month clean up, held at the end of May. Approximately 35 individuals participated in the Frederiksted clean up.
