Help 50 students Continue Nursing Education

Community immersions and healthcare work in far-flung communities has been a part of the training experience for student nurses. This is where they will learn to apply what they have learned from the four-walled classroom and share it to the people to better their living conditions in the aspect of sanitation, health and wellness.

During the process, the nurses will learn to simplify or to translate into simple language the learnings and theories in public health which will be deemed helpful to a certain locality. They also earn a sense of consciousness on what is the pressing need of the people in order to address that needs.

Student nurses also earn a higher sense of responsibility in their chosen profession in the future. Aside from sharing what their acquired knowledge, in turn, they also learn from the community as they conduct an informal survey on the present situation in their homes and villages. From that point, they acquire an idea on how they can be of help to that specific locality.

Meanwhile, one rising problem in most communities is environmental degradation more so in the aspect of the bodies of water. Rivers, in most cases, are the primary water sources of upland communities.

As nurses advocate the protection of the environment as a whole, this will deepen the understanding of the community. This will improve their healthcare situation and one best way to avoid water-borne diseases.

Here, we can see the essential role of nurses, even the student nurses, who are immersed into the communities as they advocate for better health and for better living conditions.
