Teaching the Value of Service to Student Nurses

By Dean Sinco | Project Manager

As the second semester began last month, the students nurses continued with their academic journey in order to acquire the required skills and training from their able mentors and from the institution. They are made ready not just to become registered nurses but also as effective and relevant members of the society who are tasked to contribute fully in the healthcare aspect of the greater community.

Living in a third world country, these students are being exposed to the healthcare issues related to poverty and its effect on women and children. Community exposure and immersions coupled with talks focused on public health are means in which the students will increase awareness of the society's needs.
This in turn will lead to the cultivation of the service value among the products of the College of Nursing. Moreover, the heart to serve is greatly needed for a nurse to live up to more than what is required. In the end, service must be seen as an essential factor needed for individuals engaged in the healthcare profession.
Just recently, the College of Nursing hit the 100% passing rate and this has happened for several times in the history of the said unit.
The College of Nursing not only makes ready its students in order to be excellent in skills, training, and methods but it also aims to produce the kind of nurses who are selfless and dedicated enough in serving the people in the community.
