Nursing is a very challenging profession moreso during this time of pandemic where the world activities came to a standstill ... education included.  Movement was strictly monitored by the government through the Inter Agency Task Force that implemented no face to face classes and quarantine restrictions.  The Outcomes Based Education was no longer possible at the time when education resulted to an online platform.

The Nursing Students of Foundation University together with the administrators of the department were resilient enough to apply at the Commision on Higher Education to be able to conduct skills laboratory and related learning experience which required them to be physically present in the classroom and in the hospitals for their clinical experience.  Foundation University was the first among all educational insitutions that offered the Nursing Program to be granted approval to allow a hybrid education.

Part of the factors to get the apporval of the commission was to retro fit classrooms according to the guidelines enforced by the Inter Agency Task Force which included handwashing facilities, constant disinfection,  limited people inside the classroom, social distancing, proper protocol signages and information boards and even a simulation before the hybrid education commenced. Only 4 classrooms were approved by the Commission but it did not hinder the department from proceeding.

Today,  the FOUNDATIONurse is making a difference in terms of assistance at the vaccination sites in the Negros Oriental and Dumaguete City community where they do not even have to be assigned far enough because the university in itself has offered the gymnasium to become a vaccination venue for those willing to get vaccinated.
