Because of you, something truly transformative is happening.
This June, over 50 students from the Show Me The World Project will embark on two international learning experiences—one group from St. Louis traveling to Colombia, and our inaugural Kansas City Public Schools cohort traveling to Costa Rica.
For many of these young people, this will be their first time leaving the country, first time boarding an airplane, and first time seeing themselves as global citizens.
And it all begins with access.
Thanks to your generosity, forty students received their very first passports. This is more than a document, it is a gateway to opportunity, identity, and expanded possibility.
In St. Louis, students and community members came together to host our “Stamp the Passport” event, a powerful fundraising and cultural experience that celebrated global learning while directly supporting student travel. The event not only raised critical funds, but also deepened community investment in students’ journeys.
In Kansas City, students had the incredible opportunity to learn directly from Rocky Rodríguez, a Costa Rican native and professional player for the Kansas City Current. Rocky shared her personal story, culture, and insights about Costa Rica—bringing the destination to life before students even step on the plane. Her presence affirmed students’ excitement and helped them build a meaningful connection to where they are headed. In addition, students used their creative and entrepreneurial skills to design merchandise in partnership with local company, Made Mobb to help fundrais for their trip!
These experiences are not standalone moments, they are the culmination of months of preparation. Students have engaged in:
Through this process, students are not just preparing to travel, they are preparing to lead!
Because of you:
A passport may fit in a pocket, but its impact is limitless.
As students prepare for departure, we are entering the final phase of pre-trip programming, including family engagement, cultural preparation, and leadership training. Soon, students will step onto planes and into experiences that will shape how they see themselves and their place in the world.
We look forward to sharing stories from Colombia and Costa Rica in the coming months.
Because of you, access is no longer a barrier, it’s a beginning!
Thank you so much for your support!
