When children come to us, whether they are premature babies or toddler age, they are almost always malnourished and dehydrated. Malnourishment early on in any child's life is such a difficult fight to overcome, but the battle doesn't end there. After recovering from severe malnutrition, children often remain stunted for the rest of their lives. Even mild degrees of malnutrition double the risk of respiratory complications, diarrheal disease, and can have lifelong effects on a child's early life growth patterns - potentially altering metabolism, physiological patterns and even exposing them to higher potential for cardiovascular disease.
For all these reasons, we focus closely on the food and fuel that we provide the children of God's Littlest Angels. Not only do they receive a well-balanced diet each day, but they receive supplemental nutrion in or to combat the potential lasting effects of the malnutrion they experienced early-on in life.
