By Luiz and Guilherme | Forestry Coordinator and Communication
Hello dear donors!
Although we are currently outside the tree-planting season, our work in the Atlantic Forest continues every day.
This is the time of year when we care for the forests we've already planted. Our restoration team removes invasive grasses, such as Brachiaria, that compete with young native trees for sunlight, water, and nutrients. We also monitor and control leaf-cutting ants to protect seedlings during this important stage of their growth.
At the same time, we're collecting native seeds that will become the next generation of seedlings in our nursery. These seeds are the foundation of future restoration projects and help preserve the genetic diversity of the Atlantic Forest.
We're also identifying and planning new restoration areas, prioritizing sites that reconnect forest fragments and create ecological corridors. These connections allow wildlife to move more safely across the landscape while strengthening one of the world's most threatened biodiversity hotspots.
Looking Ahead: July 15 Matching Campaign
As we prepare for the return of the rains and the next planting season, we'd love your support.
From July 15, 10:00 AM EDT until July 16, 10:00 AM EDT, GlobalGiving will host a special Matching Campaign. During this 24-hour period, donations to Forests4Water Brazil: Community Climate Action will be eligible for bonus matching funds, allowing your gift to have an even greater impact.
If you're considering supporting Iracambi, this is the best time to do it. Every donation made during the campaign helps us restore more Atlantic Forest, inspire more Young EcoLeaders, and protect biodiversity for generations to come.
Together, we can grow a greener future!
Thank you for standing with us.
