This project will provide essential protective equipment, first aid supplies, and veterinary care to firefighters, volunteers, and injured wildlife impacted by the ongoing wildfires in Peru. Our organization, Juguete Pendiente, aims to support local heroes on the frontlines while helping preserve biodiversity in regions devastated by the fires.
Peru is facing a devastating wildfire crisis, affecting 22 regions. Prolonged drought and dry conditions have fueled the fires, resulting in at least 14 deaths, nearly 100 injuries, and over 5,000 hectares of destroyed land. The fires threaten human lives, displace wildlife, and destroy critical ecosystems. Local firefighters and volunteers are struggling with limited resources, while affected communities face water shortages and poor air quality.
This project will provide essential protective equipment, first aid supplies, and veterinary care to firefighters, volunteers, and wildlife affected by Peru's wildfires. By equipping frontline responders with the necessary tools, we will enhance their capacity to control the fires, reduce injuries, and protect ecosystems. Additionally, veterinary supplies will help treat injured animals, contributing to biodiversity preservation and mitigating the fires' long-term environmental impact.
The long-term impact of this project includes improved wildfire response through better-equipped firefighters and volunteers, leading to enhanced protection of ecosystems and biodiversity. Treating injured wildlife supports species recovery, while community awareness efforts promote sustainable practices. This initiative strengthens local resilience, reducing the severity of future wildfires and fostering a culture of environmental conservation.
