In the last four months 25 families have been trained and prepared for rabbit farming and they received their initia 3 rabbits as seed breeds. A total of 151 beneficiaries received rabbits averaging 4 children per families are benefiting from eating rabbit meat, these include;
Female: 15,
Male: 10,
Children: 130.
Chidren especially benefit from eating the rabbits because it helps to improve protein intake among chidren who rather wold never eat a balanced diet before the rabbit project.
Also due to the COVID-19 effects and lockdown, most families in the rural areas have not been able to provide a balanced diet to their children especially food lack protein for their children, but it has been different for families benefiting from the rabbit project. The chidren from these families have been able to eat rabbit meat and remain healthy.
Currently 56 families are being trained and readying to receive their rabbits in the next 3 months.
The next families to benefit from the rabbit project will be families headed by single months and school going children because schools in Uganda are set to be opened by January 2022.
