With the project "Football for Roma girls" we will continue with inclusion of Roma girls in football in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Until now we included 5 Roma girls in our amateur women's football team New Woman, and now we want to bring the same benefits to the Roma girls from the neighboring municipality. Through regular one year trainings and several friendly matches, Roma girls will be included in the social life of the community for the first time.
The Roma population is completely excluded from social life in Bosnia and Herzegovina, living on the margins of society. The local government is not interested in Roma inclusion, but we are, and we have already done that in our local community. Now we go further and wider.
Football has the power to unite people of different religions, nationalities, life beliefs, levels of education and social status, and we use this unique power of football to include marginalized groups. Through this project, we will involve Roma girls into our football team and thus make them equal members of society.
This concept of inclusion has already been tested in our municipality (Vogosca), now we are only expanding the territorial effects - we go to the neighboring municipality Ilias. When Roma girls feel what it is like to be socially active they will want to continue with such a life forever.
