Food insecurity continues to affect millions of Australians, with one in three households (3.5 million) experiencing food insecurity over the past 12 months. Rising living costs remain a major challenge, forcing families to make difficult choices between putting food on the table and covering other essential expenses. Through Foodbank Australia's National Food Program, we're working to ensure Australians experiencing hardship have access to essential, nutritious food. Support through this project helps us source and distribute staple items including cereal, milk, pasta, rice, canned vegetables and protein-rich foods, filling critical gaps that traditional food rescue alone cannot meet. Over the past year, Foodbank sourced the equivalent of 92 million meals, supporting a national network of almost 3,000 charities and more than 3,600 school feeding programs. More than 30% of food distributed reached regional and rural communities, where access to affordable food can be particularly challenging. As demand for food relief continues, Foodbank is focused on building a stronger, more reliable food supply. Through initiatives such as our Annual Purchasing Program, every $1 invested helps us secure $5 worth of food, allowing us to stretch donations further and provide more meals to Australians doing it tough. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we're able to continue delivering essential food relief to communities across Australia. Together, we're helping more Australians access the food they need, when they need it most.
