This project will promote Horticulture through Sustainable Gardening and the use of organic farming processes to help enrich the diets of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). Horticulture as a practice- specifically, growing fruits and vegetables - provides critical nutrients for a balanced diet. Diets low in fruits and vegetables contribute significantly to some of the world's most widespread and debilitating nutrient-related disorders.
OVC don't have access to food and depend most often on donations people bring to them. The absence of a good nutrition leaves them in more devastated health conditions mainly caused by malnutrition and high rates of nutrients in-balance and leaves them at higher risks of starvation, disease and thus they are not guaranteed their basic human rights. Diets low in fruits and vegetables contribute significantly to some of the world's most widespread and debilitating nutrient-related disorders.
