Continuing the Progress

During Months 16–18, PDA continued to follow up with participating elderly households in Nang Rong District, focusing on maintaining the vegetable gardens established during earlier stages of the project. Given the limited funding available, our priority remained sustaining existing activities rather than expanding to additional households.

Progress During This Period

Elderly participants continued small-scale vegetable gardening for household consumption. PDA provided follow-up guidance on seasonal planting, garden maintenance, and practical solutions to challenges encountered by participants. Family members and community members also continued to play an important role in assisting elderly participants when tasks required additional physical effort.

What We Have Learned

Our experience during this period reinforced that simple, accessible gardening methods are particularly important for elderly participants. Raised planting areas, manageable garden sizes, and support from family members can help elderly people continue growing vegetables with greater independence.

Although the project has operated with limited resources, participating households have demonstrated their willingness to continue applying the skills and practices introduced through the project.

Next Steps

PDA will continue to monitor participating households and provide practical advice where needed. We will also continue seeking additional support to strengthen and potentially expand the initiative to benefit more rural elderly households.
