Food Security and Agriculture Project’s Report
Our Dear Friends,
The Darfur Women Network and its beneficiaries thank you for your generous donation! Now, though the rain is still falling in some parts of Chad, it is time for to prepare for the next rainy season. We are seeking financial support to encourage winter vegetable farming. Our goal is to provide agriculture supplies to provide nutritious meals and promote self-sufficiency.
The refugees were farmers before they fled from bombs and terror leaving everything behind just to find safety. The refugees are ready to grow their own food to eliminate malnutrition and hunger. Your support is essential for their success.
Mariam is a mother of six children and one of seven thousand families in refugee camps in Chad. She is just one example of how the refugees want to be independent to provide for their families. “I don’t need anyone to teach me how to grow our food. I did it many times, and I had never left my children without food. If I get land, seeds, and tools, I will not ask the World Food Programme for an ounce of food.”
The DWN has committed staff and volunteers who work diligently to achieve the Food Security and Agriculture goal to eradicate hunger in the Darfur refugee camp. We work closely with GlobalGiving to raise enough funds to provide every mother in the refugee camp with safe stoves to help them earn income to care for their children and to protect mothers from rape.
