A Month of Historic Milestones
August 2026 marked one of the most powerful and transformative months in the history of the Caleb Foundation. Our work in Addis Ababa reached a watershed moment, catching the attention of local news outlets that featured our programs twice in a single month.
Behind every broadcast and headline are real stories of dignity restored, families uplifted, and young futures brightened. None of this extraordinary impact would be possible without the steady generosity of our GlobalGiving community.
Empowering Mothers: The Launch of the Income-Generating Activities (IGA) Program
This month, we officially launched our Income-Generating Activities (IGA) initiative, equipping 25 underprivileged mothers with comprehensive business skills, mentorship, and full start-up material packages to launch their own small businesses.
The launch ceremony was filled with profound emotion. Mothers expressed their joy and relief through tears, promising to pour their hearts into their new ventures and return with inspiring testimonies to guide future IGA cohorts in the coming months.
To ensure long-term sustainability, the Caleb Foundation team is implementing a structured follow-up and supervision framework. We have also introduced a new Excellence Award Program to recognize and reward top-performing mothers, motivating each participant toward total financial independence.
Celebrating 57 Daycare Graduates
Our second major media highlight celebrated a milestone of hope: 57 children graduated from our free daycare program, fully prepared to transition into primary school!
Each graduate received a brand-new backpack filled with comprehensive school supplies to support their educational journey.
A guest director from a local primary school delivered a moving testimonial during the ceremony, sharing that children coming from the Caleb Foundation consistently stand out as the most disciplined, prepared, and academically outstanding students in their classrooms. This endorsement highlights our core mission: delivering lasting social, emotional, and academic development for vulnerable children.
Looking Ahead to September: Welcoming 120 Children
As September marks the Ethiopian New Year, we are preparing to open our doors to 57 new daycare candidates from our waiting list to fill the open spots left by our graduates.
With this new intake, the Caleb Foundation will provide comprehensive, full-day services (Monday through Saturday) to 120 children, including:
Youth Leadership in Action: The Kids4Kids Movement
Our local team in Addis Ababa received extraordinary support this month from dedicated youth volunteers. Through our Kids4Kids platform, young leaders worked alongside our local staff, mentoring younger children and assisting with daily program operations.
This youth-led initiative continues to bloom, offering the next generation a meaningful platform to serve, lead, and create positive change in the lives of their peers. Kids' Volunteer Testimonials
