This project will improve well-being of more than a 1000 of children and their families in several rural sites of Lithuania. The services cover social support, and cultural and after-school activities. Additionally, some food products will be regularly delivered to the poorest families in the sites, in exchange of their work in the community (assisting neighbours, and working with other children in our day-care centres).
Polulation of Lithnuania is 3 mln. In 2011 over 42 thusand people have been receiving allowances. 24000 children have been living in poverty and risk families. We will distribute food products in the centres and will transport it to families in rural areas. We will organize special camps for children in all seasons of the year. The activities will be educational, cultural and working in the community. Preventional activities will enable children to stop using alcohol, and drop smoking. Drug prevention will also be covered. Activities in the communities will create opportunities for families to come together, work and enjoy arts.
The project targets social problems and poverty. 1200 children would be occupied in various activites and projects, and provided with social and cultural services and after-school activities, and meals. Children attending centres would gain skills needed for their everyday-life. Over 40 communities covering about 10000 residents would learn how to solve problems locally. Disparities between village and town would be reduced.
