This project will provide food aid to 5000 people affected by the political, economic and sanitary crisis caused by COVID19 in Bogota. We will distribute baskets containing nonperishable and fresh agroecological products, hygiene products, including menstrual cups for women and girls. Along with every delivery we will carry out a workshop on good evironmental practices.
In addition to a balance of 73,000 deaths, COVID19 has caused an economic crisis that has resulted in the closure of 500,000 companies, increasing household vulnerability and considerably reducing their chances of leaving their precarious situation. 42.5% of Colombians are now in a situation of monetary poverty, living on less than 91 dollars a month and 15% are in extreme poverty, living on just 40 dollars a month.
PSF will provide baskets for 5000 people. They will contain hygiene products, non-perishable and fresh goods. Thinking of a long term solution, along with every delivery we will carry out a workshop and hand in a guide to promote good environmental practices. We will also distribute 100 menstrual cups along with a workshop to promote menstrual health. This distribution will help alleviate hunger of these families and will have a long-term impact thanks to the promotion of self-sufficiency.
Besides providing important food and hygiene aid to families who are heavily affected by the health and economic crisis, we will promote sustainable urban agriculture and sensitize women to a new type of hygiene care. We do not only want to bring support during this crisis but mainly give the means to vulnerable families to change their view on sustainable consumption.
