IDEP Selaras Alam is mobilizing support for families affected by the 15 August 2026 M7.7 earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Aftershocks continue to occur. Through trusted local partners in Manggarai and East Manggarai, support will provide urgent needs including food, clean water, emergency shelter, medicines, medical personnel, essential supplies for women, babies, children and older people, and lighting. Needs will be assessed and assistance distributed in affected areas.
On 15 August 2026, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck Flores, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. As of 18 August, 68 people had died, more than 200 were injured, and around 19,000 people were displaced. At least 4,500 homes were damaged, while 2,119 aftershocks had been recorded. In Manggarai and East Manggarai, affected families urgently need food, clean water, emergency shelter, medicines, sanitation supplies, and other essential support.
IDEP Selaras Alam will mobilize support through local partners with direct access to affected communities in Manggarai and East Manggarai. Local partners will assess needs, identify priorities, and distribute food, clean water, emergency shelter, medicines, sanitation supplies, and other essential support to affected families. IDEP and its partners will monitor assistance and adjust priorities as needs change.
This project will help affected families recover from the earthquake and meet essential needs during the emergency. With around 19,000 people displaced, timely support can help families restore basic living conditions. Continued aftershocks and El Nino-related drier conditions may increase challenges, particularly access to clean water. Support will help families manage immediate needs while conditions continue to develop.
