PROJECT TITLE: FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT CHENNAI,INDIA.

PROJECT UNDER: FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMILNADU,S.INDIA.

PROJECT SITE: EZHLIL NAGAR,CHENNAI.

FIRST AID TRAINING: For the Fishermen community in this coastal area as a livelihood Training Programme and for women First Aid Awareness Training Programme was provided on behalf of disaster Management Training Programme by the organizations ‘’ Global Giving and Chevalier Roche Society Through the qualified Trainers this Training was provided to the trainees. Disaster Management means making the announcement and creating the Awareness among the people of the concerned area regarding the disaster such as heavy rain and flood. When the people are in expectation about the Tremour or Fire Accident there will be many loss of lives damage of articles would be occurred. Therefore the community in that location would have to face many destructions and distresses. Disaster Management is meeting the disaster affected people person and making from water or fire etc. Being kept their welfare in our mind and providing the Medical Helps, Accommodation facilities and recovery activities for the victims from their difficulties we need to arrange Food, dresses, accommodation etc. They must have the hope of protection. For the victims who met the for accident or Flood disaster and lost their possessions family members and relatives Self confidence shall be given and their lives should be restituted brought back to their normal condition. In this manner explanation was given about disaster management. Usually women are greatly affected. That is why we need to create self confidence and the courage to protect others among women. Women were made us groups of 20 women each. These group members must go to the public people and they must provide Training for them and First Aids also to the people in need. Sometimes one of the group members may also any dangerous situation or sometimes they might be in risk. In that occasion how shall they protect or recover her /him from the risk or disaster. It was taught and also practically demonstrated. During this training programme it was also taught how we shall provide her / him the First Aid Help. It was taught elaborately. If a person meets a sadden accident and be comes unconscious how shall we take action to bring her / him to the normal condition. If any crowd gathers surrounding the accident met person who is in unconscious condition, we must ask them to disperse from there and we must arrange her / him to get the enough natural his dress is tight we must loose that dress to some extent. Then we must check if she / he is alive not by checking her / his pulse rate or heart beat etc we may check the pulse rate by checking her / his pulse rate at his wrist just below her / his thumb or neck portion or temples of the fore head or top of the centre head. At these places we may put our one or two fingers and check the pulse. In order to check her / his breathing is normal we can keep our hind portion of the fingers and check if the warm air comes thro her / his nostrils. If the breathing and pulse rate are not in normal condition as First Aid Treatment we may lay her / him upon the floor so as to face her / his face directing the sky and we must pull her / his head backward and make her / his Respiratory passage as normal condition. In the next stage we keep her / his mouth widely opened and keep both of our hands upon her / her mouth and exhale the air from our mouth to her / his mouth. In this manner we must do 20 or 25 times continually. While we do this some body else must keep her / his left hand upon the lowest chest bone and upon that she / he must keep her / his right hand and give some pressure. This pressure must be given continually. If we give some pressure to heart and provide the artificial respiration simultaneously her / his artificial would turn to the normal condition and pulse beat also will become normal and she / he will return to her / his healthy condition again. After that she /he may be given something to drink. When she / he falls down in the unconscious condition we must check if she / he has got injured anywhere in her / his body and also we must check if she / he has any injury or building we must listen carefully. About this if it was found a maximum volume of blood has leaked from the injury we must take immediate action to control the bleeding. If it is not considered carefully she / he may meet death soon. If the blood loss is too much the affected persons pulse rate and speed of the respiration would decrease and finally she / he will die. There fore the bleeding are is carefully found on hand leg, or head we must arrange to stop the bleeding immediately. Explanation was given in detail. If somebody gets injured on head and much bleeding is occurred we must hold that area give pressure, put a 3 or folded nice wet cloth and formally tie with the bandage cloth tightly. If somebody gets injured upon the palm it must be cleaned well and then following that the bandage shall be made with a clean and soft cloth. In this manner we must stop the bleeding and also check if there is any fracture at the hand or leg. This shall be done very carefully and sharply. If she / he had any bone fracture at the hand leg, 2 flat wooden sticks or 2 foot scales shall be found out and one shall be kept above the fractured bone and the other one below the bone and make a tight bandage carefully to avoid the friction of the bones this type of bandage shall be made. In addition to this as a supportive purpose and to strengthen the fractured bone the land shall be folded according to the direction of elbow front portion of the hand must be brought near the chest and make a cradle like formation joining with a strip of cloth surrounding the neck and the lower portion of the hand therefore the fractured hand would be in rest. Nothing to be worried about the fracture. Then this patient can be taken to the hospital in sitting position. If there are four persons to help the patient they can ask the patient to sit on a chair. Two persons can join their hands firmly if the chair is not available there patient can be asked to sit upon that arrangement and keep their hands upon the shoulder of the patient and easily carry her / him to the Ambulance or the near by clinic comfortably. In the case of four person’s availability for help they can ask the patient to sit on a chair, four helpers can hold the 4 legs of the chair firmly and carry the patient to the Ambulance or to the near by hospital easily. If there is only one person is available for help she / he can carry the patient upon her / his back or shoulder as a single person. If the disaster affected person is in the condition of unable to walk what ever the clothing available there such as dhoti or saree or bed sheet, that can be spread upon the flood and the patient shall be asked to lay on the clothing available there and she / he can be carried easily to the Ambulance for further treatment before that the four edges of the bed sheet or saree or dhoti must be rolled up without any wrinkling and discomfort. By this ‘’stretcher like equipment, the patient can be carried easily to destination by the volunteers. If such clothing is not found on the spot the patient can be asked to lay upon a bench or cot or a door. Then her / his chest portion and legs shall be tied up along with the bencher cot or door, so that the patient would not roll up and fall down. She / he can be carried in a safe manner. All these treatment methods and First Aid procedures were explained in detail along with the practical demonstration. All the participants understood the training and practical demonstration cleanly and they are much grateful   to the Global Giving and Chevalier Roche Society for the Training offered to them.

DRINKING WATER CONSERVATION: In 2015, 2016 years a huge flood Disaster happened to the areas in Chennai Kannagi Nagar, Ezhlil Nagar, Saidapet, Chennai slum areas so our global giving aided project team went there and discussed about their activities and how there they could rebuild their activities, and come back to their normal life. Thus their activities will be so helpful to all the slum areas to rest orate   their livelihood activities and their life styles in their places. During the flood disaster (or) any natural disaster how the slum peoples and the victims of the particular area use the water so hygienically. Because due to the flood disaster the water comes with those the man made waste (or) Industrial waste, plastic wastes and the other type of wastes such as wood, pipe plastic bags, etc. Thus the water is mixed with those wastes and this water is given for us as co – corporation water for us so, we (The victims) heat the water properly and filter it well and keep it water and use the water. This water will kill the bacteria’s (or) germs while during the heating process. This water is the most essential important thing in our life. Nowadays the water is a rare object to our peoples in the state. With in few days we cannot able to use water along with impurities whatever is now in our use nowadays because there a possibility for a long gap of water scarcity will happen in few years. So people we must save water and properly use minimum amount for our future generation.

WATER ANALYZIS BY TOOLKIT: Here is the Toolkit for finding the components in our metro corporation water. This tool kit is used to find the necessary constituents present in the water and their volume color, texture. This process is already done by the metro water as taken as a sample and it can be analyzed by the given chemicals sample value of water is demonstrated and finally this kit is distributed to check the water constituents in every village etc. By implementing the toolkit we here do any 3 test sample in our metro water as sample here we demonstrate the 3 types of test with the slum areas. Metro co-corporation water supplied in as sample. These the amount, color and texture are demonstrated to then now they are presented in their water level as perfects accurate % (percentage) level in the water sample given by the victims.

TESTING IRON:

-          Take 10ml of given sample metro–corporation place it in the glass bottle

-         Add five drops of ‘’Fe1’’ liquid fluid

-         Add one drop of Fe2 liquid fluid

-         Add five drops of Fe3 liquid fluid

-         Then all the contented are shaken for two minutes continuously.

-         Finally Iron test was completed and the percentage of Iron content was verified with Iron chart.

-         10.0% of Iron is verified and 10% is given in the water sample.

TESTING (PH):

Testing the hydron iron concentration.

-         Take 1 drop of sample water by using Ink pillor.

-         Take the PH Paper and dipped the paper in the water sample.

-         Compare the color in the PH value chart.

-         6.5 In the given PH (sample) of water. No color change.
