PROJECT TITLE:FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE,CHENNAI,INDIA.

PROJECT UNDER:FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMILNADU, S.INDIA.

PROJECT SITE:EZHLIL NAGAR,CHENNAI.

MOCK DRILL TRAINING PROGRAMME: During the times of disaster many defects would come. Even through many literates are available in this area they don’t know the method of recovering the people they have to wait for the Ambulance, Recovery group police men, Fire Dept staff etc. In order to avoid this situation provide the help to the disaster affected victims. In every disaster affected area mock trill Training Programme is convened. As a part of this programme at Area one of the Flood Disaster affected Mock Drill programme was convened. In this training programme we gathered the women who already had participated in the training programme and selected those voluntary service minded women for this training programme. In this training programme session it was demonstrated practically how we shall carry a person who got injured severely from an upstairs to the Ambulance in the absence of Recovery Team. The common people themselves can do this in a combined manner. In order to carry that severely injured person a stretcher like set up is needed. But such set ups are available only in the Ambulance vehicle in order to serve such persons lives. Therefore the victims who are in serious condition are affected much. Therefore we must utilize the clothing’s like Bed sheet, Dhoties, Thick sarees to carry the victims to the necessary places. Two long sticks shall be kept on both the sides of the clothing longitudinally and rolled the clothing along with the stick tightly. Now the stretcher like formation is ready. Then the severely injured or serious ill person must be laid up on the stretcher like apparatus. Then he or she can be carried anywhere. Two persons can carry the stretcher like unit along with the disaster affected person without any problem Two persons can easily descend along with the patient with help of stretcher like this apparatus to the ground flood or to the Ambulance or anywhere else. When the affected persons are in the setting position and are unable to walk, in the sitting position itself two persons can carry him easily by jouncing their both hands with each others hands and keep the patient up on the chair comfortably. Without any disturbance we can easily carry him along with the chair in leaning position of the patient up on the back of the chair. Then he can be carried from the upstairs to the ground floor. It was practically demonstration along with the necessary theoretical explanation. Even the Recovery Team is not found at the spot the common people can do this help.  Even through the major accidents happened in the form of a disaster at any situation human lives are affected much with severe injuries, unconsciousness etc and they meet many struggles to protect their lives. In some disaster affected cases much bleeding his occurred. During that situation people should not wait until the medical Team arrives. People themselves provide the First Aid Treatment and protect the lives For this training some active person were chosen and provided them the First Aid Training Programme with the practical Demonstration. According when we find a head injured person with much bleeding, we must make arrangements to stop the bleeding. Even in the condition having no bandage clothes, whatever the clothes we have such as Dhoti or saree or Towel. Take one of the clothing’s, tear at one edge cut the same to a short  length fold same to 3 or 4 layers and keep it upon the head injury and surrounding the head make a bandage like covering and tie tightly. It would certainly be helpful to stop the bleeding and the injured person also would feel better. Also the hemorrhage also will be completely stopped. Then they can be carried for further medical treatment without help of those who got trained in Recovery works. In some building in Recovery and demolished areas of the building. They would have injuries up on their hands and leg. They might have some bone fractures and acute pain. In some situations they feel very hard even to move their hands or legs. It would be hard to handle them and very hard to carry them to other places if they are touched anywhere, they would feel acute pain. In order to avoid many defects for them we must bring their hand or leg to a correct position. When we bring the organ to that right position bones will join in right manner and fit together. Then take two sticks in uniform length and keep them upon the fractured bone and at the bottom of the bone. Then take clean strip of a long cloth and tie around the sticks tightly. Then we shall not leave the fractured hand in the hanging condition. If develop much pain. That is who? We can make a joint between neck and fractured hand with the help of a long strip of clean cloth like a cradle form. Then we can carry this patient to the hospital in a protected manner. In this manner First Aid Training was offered to the selected beneficiaries. They felt very nice about this Training programme. All participants of this Training Programme conveyed their heartfelt thanks to the organization GlobalGiving.
