REPORT TITLE: LIVELIHOOD INITIATIVE-ORNAMENTAL FISH CULTURE
PROJECT TITLE:FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT CHENNAI,INDIA.
PROJECT UNDER:FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE TAMILNADU,S.INDIA.
PROJECT TARGET SITE:KANNAGI NAGAR,CHENNAI.
LIVELIHOOD INITIATIVE-ORNAMENTAL FISH CULTURE-KANNAGI NAGAR: During the period of 2015-2016 years many places in Chennai city especially the extension areas such as Thidir Nagar,Kothamedu, Santhosh Nagar,Kannagi Nagar were severely affected by heavy rain and Flood Disaster and Rain flood. Therefore we provided them continually Training on Disaster and Risk Management . Especially if neighboring person is affected how shall we recover them do the necessary activities such as food and shelter etc. These were also taught to them elaborately Especially in Kannagi Nagar area Alternative Livelihood Programme was arranged for the victims there. During such disaster periods people in these areas usually would be affected economically. That is why this type of Training is necessary for them.Especially Trainings such as manufacture of House Hold Articles, Handicraft works from Sea Shells, Corals etc. Mushroom Culture Training,Fresh water Fish Culture, Sea water Fish Culture were offered to them. At Kannagi Nagar Area of Chennai which is one of the flood disaster affected area, where Continually Livelihood Training programmes are provided to the Disaster affected victims there. Particularly in this area women have no enough Educational Knowledge. They are working as house maid and earn a little amount of money as their monthly income and are suffering much to run their lives. Many Entrepreneurship Training Programmes were conducted in this area. Of this which for an interesting group Ornamental Fish Culture Training was Provided. As a continuation of this eventhough these beneficiaries were taught of how should they do the Ornamental Fish Culture and how should the Ornamental Fishes be sold. In addition to this they must have the Master Level Marketing Knowledge about the Ornamental Fishes. For that purpose we took them to the major marketing areas and by Practical demonstration they got enough Knowledge in this Field and they were guided for the Exposure Visit also.
EXPOSURE VISIT TRAINING: These Beneficiaries in Kannagi Nagar area were guided for an Exposure Visit to see everything directly to a Major level Ornamental Fish Culture Farm. There these Beneficiaries met some women and asked about their experience about Ornamental Fish Culture. Through this visit our beneficiaries knew about how the Ornamental Fishes are reared, how they are provided food, how do they lay eggs and how the new off springs are formed favorable situation for the off spring formation from Ornamental Fishes and through the Sea Lotus Fishes how the eggs of Ornamental Fishes are protected and the new off springs are germinated from the laid eggs etc. Were clearly known by the women from Kannagi Nagar area through this exposure visit. Also they were taught, how should we remove the sea-water from tank or glass Tub and how should we change these ornamental Color Fishes as fresh water fishes . It was also taught to them clearly. When they are grown up so how they are protected in the growing place? . How do the sea lotuses are helpful to the fishes. It was also Taught to the beneficiaries of the Trainees. On the basis of the Trainings acquired these women at Kannagi Nagar they would certainly choose an Entrepreneurship which is interesting for them. in order to improve in their own area. The local SHG,the bank loan will be arranged for them. Having that amount was the capital amount for their Entrepreneurship. Finally the Peoples of Kannagi Nagar felt Thankful to the Farm Owner for Explaining about their Ornamental Fishes in Detail and For Global Giving Aided Project Staff Team.
