PROJECT UNDER:FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMILNADU,S.INDIA.
PROJECT SITE: KARUNANIDHI NAGAR – CHENNAI
At Karunanidhi Nagar, Which is near Saidapet in Chennai Corporation area Natural Disaster Management Training Programme was convened for the women, Youngsters and students as Climate Managers.During the past times Vulnerable Community have been affected much. The reason for this is Vulnerable Community did not grow up in the scientific knowledge. During the times of disasters such as heavy Rain, Flood, Cyclone, Tremor, Tsunami etc they must have the enough knowledge to face the crisis like these. After the occurrence of the disaster only people know about that. They are affected much. The reason for this is the community did not know about the disaster in ahead of time. Forewarning was also not given. Recovery works also could not be done properly. That is why people meet many troubles. But now days due to the scientific inventions, we can know the natural disaster in ahead of time before its occurrence. That is why we can easily arrange for the fore warning actions Govt. officials also announce the necessary warnings for us. In addition to this, through the Medias such as Television, Radio and News Papers also we can know elaborately about the disasters.
EARLY WARNING ACTIONS:Early warning announcements being released by the Govt must be followed by the victims particularly we must keep in touch with the Natural Disaster Management Group. Also we must have their contact phone numbers and the phone numbers of the Tashildhar, Revenue Inspector, and V.A.O etc. It would be much helpful during the time of disaster. Also we must us the Rehabilitation camps formed by the Govt officials. In the villages some areas would have been announced as vulnerable areas by the govt. In these areas protected and standard buildings in high position would be ready for the victims such as cyclone relief centre, School buildings; Community centre will serve as rehabilitation centers. We must have enough knowledge about the locations of these centers. Also the young men in that area must know where aged people, Alternative skilled people, Children and sick people are living. When the disaster is occurred these must be given the first priority and they must be moved to the protected places. Also the disaster affected people should have collected milk and milk powder for their children in ahead of time .There are possibilities for the mixing of drainage water with the drinking water in disaster affected areas. Also there are the possibilities for the presence of Bacteria, Virus, and Infection causing mosquitoes such occasions we must boil the drinking water, cool the same, filter it and after that people can drink. By this way we can protect our people and children from the contagious diseases being caused by water. People must have Torch light, match box, Bed sheets, Mobile charger etc.. at their hand. Also they must cut off the electricity connection at their homes. If we do, we can avoid the defects and accidents being caused by the electricity. We must have the contact phone numbers of near by hospital, Fire service station, Police station etc. It would be much helpful during the emergency times.
FIRST AID TO BE DONE AFTER THE OCCURRENCE OF DISASTER: Aged people or sick persons(High Risk Groups) who are unable to walk may be helped by two young men to carry them from one place to another by joining their hands with each other and make chair like form and carry them to the protected places or to the up stay etc. Also the disaster affected person can be carried with the help of an young man holding the two leys of the affected person in one side and another young man can stand behind the affected person and hold surrounding his chest and carry him to the protected place. Also the two young men can help a disaster affected person by keeping the affected persons feet upon their feet and walk along with him In that manner we can protect the disaster affected person by carrying him to a proper shelter. This was practically demonstrated with necessary explanation before the trainees. If a person gets injured upon his head and bleeding is occurred by utilizing the clean and fine cloth (such as saree,) bandage? It was also explained in detail and performed with the practical demonstration. If a person has fracture upon his hand how shall we help him to reduce the pain and make a bandage? It was also explained with the practical demonstration. The bandage can be made by keeping 2 foot scales or 2 flat wooden sticks upon both the sides of the fracture at the hand. It would be much helpful to reduce the pain of the disaster affected person. Before doing this we must make a phone call No.108 to send the Ambulance to the disaster affected area. If the ambulance is unable to reach the disaster affected victim from a marrow street etc. we can carry the affected person with the help of a blanket or a bed sheet, dhoty etc by making it as a stretcher form. This can be made and help the affected person.
