REPORT TITLE:  CONTRIBUTION FOR LONG TERM PERSPECTIVES

PROJECT TITLE: FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMILNADU,S.INDIA.

PROJECT SITE:   ANNAMAL WOMENS COLLEGE,THOOTHUKUDI

                                           LIVELIHOOD TRAINING:  ORNAMENTAL JEWELS CRAFT

 In Thoothukudi District during the times of disaster mostly affected areas are coastal areas and low lying areas. These areas were heavily affected during the year 2015 because of the rain flood. In these areas continually Training Programmes regarding the disaster, protection, Recovery Trainings, First Aid Trainings are continually convened. As the next stage. We planned to develop the livelihood condition of women victims in these areas. Being considered this point we arranged to provide them and to develop further their life style. In every area house hold articles, ornamental shell making training programmes etc according to their individual choice. In area women are only a minimum educated. That is why it was planned to provide training according to their ability. For this purpose we got association with  Annammal Womens College,Old Students Association elected the women who got trained many times and we provided them the training on fulltime basis for a period of 5 days continually. It was planned to provide the community based Training economically with the new Technology. It was decided to provide the familiar entrepreneurship Training which is very familiar among most of the women- “Ornamental Jewellery Training”. In today’s fashion world eventhough many have gold, diamond, platinum Jewels mostly women are fond of Glass,coral thread and plastic Jewels. Not only the middle class women mostly every woman in our society are very much interested to wear these jewels. As the women are desirous to wear the jewels according to the colour of the dresses they wear, these jewels are found at low cost very easily. That is why this is an useful Training programme. After the accomplishment of this Training programme women can manufacture these jewels at their home itself, easily sell them and get more gain for them. Resource materials for the entrepreneurship are easily received at local areas. Hence this training was provided to women as they themselves felt it was essential for them.

QUELLING PAPER STUD-NECESSARY MATERIALS:

Rolling Needle -1, Design Mould – 1, Fevicol paste – 1Tin, Ear Stud, Ring, Hanging, Quelling Paper

We may select a quelling paper in our preferred colour. Take the rolling needle, apply gum and roll the quelling paper up on that we must make the model of our preferred shape and apply gum. After the gum drops got dried, then fix the ring and hanging along with that. Then keep the ear stud and design according to your imagination. 

QUELLING EAR STUD:Quelling Paper, Fevicol paste Tin, Design Mould, Line Chain, Hanging, Hook, Rolling Needle.

PROCEDURE:Take a rolling Needle apply gum up on that, take 6No. Of Quelling Papers, Paste them and roll them upon the needle one by one. The rolled paper shall be kept on design mould and get an impression of that keep the stud to get dried, fix the hook along with the ear stud and also fit the hanging with that. After all these apply gum upon the lower portion of the ear stud and affix the rolling stone with that. Now the Quelling paper ear stud is ready.

QUELLING PAPER STUD-NECESSARY MATERIALS:Quelling Paper, Fevicol paste, Rolling Needle Ear stud.

PROCEDURE:Take 2 Quelling papers in different colours paste with the help of gum one after one another and role through the needle. After rolling these quelling papers finally apply gum and fix the stud with that and decorate the ornament

 SILK THREAD BANGLE:NECESSARY MATERIALS:Silk Thread – 1 Roll, Bangle Frame -1, Line chain -1, Fevicol paste Tin -1.

PROCEDURE:Take the silk threads in 6 rows roll them, apply Fevicol paste upon bangle frame and affix the silk Thread up on that, properly roll them and apply fevicol paste up on that. Now the work is completed. After this affix the line chain up on the bangle appropriately. Now the Nice Thread Bangle is ready.

SILK THREAD EAR STUD NECESSARY MATERIALS:Silk Thread, Ear stud Frame, Fevicol paste – 1 Tin, Hanging Rings, Balance string

PROCEDURE:Take a two folded silk thread and insert it into the eye of the needle. At another end of the silk thread apply Fevicol paste and stick the same to the ear stud Frame. After got dried enter the silk Thread in to hole of the same. After role it in the form of a circle apply the paste. After this insert the balance string in to the central hole of the ear stud and fix the hanging also along with that. Now the silk Thread Ear stud is ready.

TARAKKOTTA BANGLE NECESSARY MATERIALS: Bangle Frame, Tarakkotta rope, Fevicol paste – 1Tin

PROCEDURE:Apply the Fevicol paste upon the Bangle Frame and upon that fix Tarakkotta rope and leave it to dry for about 5 minutes. After get dried completely roll the rope with out any gap. After famishing the rolling apply the Fevicol paste and stick the same firmly. Now Tarakkotta Bangle is ready

CORAL–BANGLE NECESSARY MATERIALS: Corals -1Box, Crystal corals -1 Box, Juckuri-1, Jewel Making Bangle Frame – 1 Gear wire – 1 roll, Fevi paste – 1 Tube. 

PROCEDURE:Upon the Bangle Frame insert the gear wire and then make a knot with the bangle Frame and insert five corals in to the gear wire, Jackir-1, crystal coral – 1 and Juckin-1 in than manner serially insert through gear wire and make a strong knot at the end cut off the stretching ends of gear wire over the knot. Then apply Fevi paste up on the Bangle Frame and fasten the corals up on the frame.

CRYSTAL GARLAND NECESSARY MATERIALS: Crystals -1 small Box, design ball -1 PK Dollar-1, Gear wire -1mtr, Gear lock, Nose Plyer-1, Cutter -1, Chain hooks.

PROCEDURE:Insert the dollar into the Gera Wire and on both the sides of the dollar insert a design ball each. Then add the crystal in to the Gear. Finally insert one gear lock and one chain hook into the Gear wire. And also at last add the Gear lock   into the Gear wire and lock the same.

CRYSTAL STUD NECESSARY MATERIALS: Crystals -10, Design Balls - some quantity. Bangle Frame -1 pair, Gear lock 4 Nos.

PROCEDURE:Into the ring keep in order a Gear lock, a crystal, a ball and also add a gear lock and with the help of nose player press the gear lock and make it locked. Now the Crystal Stud is ready.

FOUR CORNER NECKLACE MATERIALS IN NEED: Four corner, Necklace Box-1 Rings -1PKT, Necklace Hook.

PROCEDURE:Count and collect 25 stone from the Necklace box. Then take a ring and make the stones as arrow. After joining those stones fix a hook for the Necklace. Now the Four corners Necklace is ready.

RING MATERIALS IN NEED:Ring Frame -1, Crystals -7 Balance – 1

PROCEDURE:Into the ring frame and into the balance insert the crystals than into the every hot of the circle. After adding the 7 crystals totally press the same in to the Ring Frame, Stretch the string and completely roll up the ring. Now the ring is ready to wear.

 LEG RING OR ORNAMENT MATERIALS IN NEED:Leg  string -30 Nos, Crystal – 1 Nose Plier -1, Ornament Corals-2 Take a string, adds crystals in to serially. Then a little quantity of ornamental corals into that with the help of nose plier band and lock the hook. It is easier to do

JURDHOSHI CHAIN MATERIALS IN NEED: Jurdhoshi -1PKT, Gear wire -1 Mtr. Chain Hook-1

PROCEDURE:Take a certain length of Gear wire, insert the dollar in to it, next to the dollar add one by one Jurdhosi. After adding necessary Jurdhosis finally add the chain hook also. Then fold the gear wire with the help of chain hook lock the ends of the gear wire. Now the Jurdhoshi Chain is ready to wear.

BRACELET MATERIALS IN NEED: Bracelet Balls -1pkt, Elastic wire – Necessary length, Rolling stones-1 pkt. According to the circumference of the wrist take a certain length of elastic wire. Into that wire insert a ball and rolling stone alternative and finally make knot at the ends of the Elastic wire.

FIVE CORNER NECKLACES MATERIALS IN NEED:Necklace Box-1, Gear wire-2mtrs Gear lock-1, Golden Balls – 1pkt, Corner Samosa -2 Nos, Necklace rope-1.

PROCEDURE:Take a certain length of Gear wire and fold same. Insert this wire in to a gear lock and a Samosa corner. Then add a necklace bead. Along with these articles insert 2 golden balls also. Like insert all the beads of the Necklace box in to the Gear wire. Finally add a Corner Samosa and a Gear lock. After all these fittings are added in to the Gear wire fix all these materials along with the Gear wire to the Necklace rope in a proper manner and make the final adjustment on the edges of the Necklace rope. Now the Five Corner Necklace is ready to wear.
