REPORT TITLE:HOLISTIC REHABITILITATION FOR FLOOD DISASTER

PROJECT TITLE:FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMILNADU,S.INDIA

PROJECT SITE: THIDIR NAGAR, SAIDAPET,CHENNAI.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT TRAINING:

          During this Flood Disaster Management Training which was held at Thidir Nagar, Chennai it was taught how we should protect ourselves from the Disaster being occurred. It was explained in detail to the vulnerable community in this area. When we asked a question, “What is the disaster?” The people in this area, they replied that disaster a great risk and hindrance. If the flood disaster is occurred their place is found as the most vulnerable place. They were in the situation of funding the evacuation route or having Alternative Livelihood Training Programme for them. That is why they were provided training for protecting themselves developing their livelihood activities.

MOCK DRILL PROGRAMME:

          Vulnerable community being affected by severe injury can be helped immediately by itself. The affected members can help themselves without the help of somebody else. Mock Drill Training is provided to the vulnerable community on how to protect themselves from the flood disaster. It was also taught how to provide the treatment for a head injured person when a person is suffered by bone fracture either at hand or leg he has met a disaster. That is why somebody must help him especially by offering First Aid Treatment to him. Therefore First Aid Treatment is a necessary work and action to be disaster done for the recovery of the help of Trainers. The victims of the village learnt with much interest. Through this training they have known about pulse rate checking the heart beat, controlling of the bleeding etc through First Aid modern techniques. This type of Mock Drill Programme was demonstrated practically with the modern techniques especially to perform in the rain flood affected areas.

LIVELIHOOD TRAINING:

          Vulnerable community here living is mainly affected with the flood disaster. During this occasion generally the vulnerable community located in this area is unable to regenerate their lives so we planned to train them to be equipped well in the livelihood activities according to their interest and ability. We offered them the necessary Trainings such as Home need  Products  & Health Products (to be relieved from stomach pain and gas trouble) sincerely they said that it would help them certainly to develop their life style of lives to a high standard. Finally Global Giving aided Chevalier Roche Society project team delivered vote of thanks and this programme was accomplished successfully.
