REPORT TITLE: PROMOTION OF GIRLS PEER FOR MANAGEMENT
PROJECT TITLE: FLOOD DISASTER RESPONSE AT TAMIL NADU, S. INDIA
TARGET GROUP: (INDUSTRIAL TRAINING INSTITUTE) ITI - THOOTHUKUDI
Flood Disaster Awareness Management Training Programme was convened for the girl Students, Industrial Training Institute, Thoothukudi was held in the presidence of Superintendent I.T.I. In the presence of N.S.S officer, I.T.I, Project Manager, Global Giving offered the Training for the students. During this training programme following information were delivered.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT AWARENESS:
Formation of Disaster and types of Disasters were described in detail. It was also explained how they shall involve in the early warning activities. It was emphasized to students and they were asked to form Village Level Disaster Management Groups and they should be provided proper Training Programmes. They were asked and emphasized to prepare the Disaster Management Project Plan. They were emphasized to keep the necessary instruments ready to make the replacement of the community. Areas have to be affected easily such as low lying areas, Coastal areas, river gathering area, houses at the completely. Tank Bund areas shall be supervised it was emphasized clearly. Easily affected vulnerable community such as differently affected persons, diseased persons, Pregnant Women, Children psychologically affected vulnerable community, must be supervised and they shall be given special priority. It was emphasized in detail. Evacuation routes to the protected places shall be discovered. It would be helpful for the affected village vulnerable community. All village vulnerable community shall gather to gather and draw the Ven – diagrams in visible manner at the centre of the village. Students were asked to make this arrangement during the time of disaster. Drinking water, Life saving articles cooking materials, Automobile spare parts, mobile lavatories, Body protection materials, First Aid Articles and etc. must in ready condition. The students were asked to do these things. Emergency phone numbers such as Fire Service Ambulance, Hospital, Blood Bank, Scout Squared, Red Cross Society and NGO shall be collected to be used during the critical situation of the Disaster Times.
SEARCH & RECOVERY TRAINING:
Disaster affected vulnerable community shall be carried by the cradle method, carry on back and fire service vulnerable community carrying method were explained with practical demonstration. Four Hands Seat Arrangement 2 hands seat arrangement were explained with practical demonstration. Back and forth carrying method was also explained with practical demonstration. Chair, Blanket, Bed sheet and shawl also can be used to carry the disaster affected victims. It was also explained in what manner they could be carried through practical demonstration. Being used the rope, home clothing’s such as saree, nighty, lungi how could the patients be carried. It was also demonstrated practically and taught to the students. All participants of the training were asked to perform the Mock – Drill Programme in the villages themselves. If the disaster affected persons have the injuries with bleeding or hemorrhage in what manner bandage shall be made and bleeding could be controlled. It was explained with practical demonstration. In what manner the artificial respiration shall be made? According to every defect or damage. What type of First Aid shall be provided? It was explained with practical demonstration. In what manner First Aid shall be provided for Children and Adults? It was also explained in detail. In what manner the outward pressure shall be provided during the heart failure? It was also demonstration practically. What type bandage shall be made for the bone fractured? It was also demonstrated practically before the students for their better understanding and performance. How shall we make the cradle like bandage for the bone fractured? It was also demonstrated practically. Finally Chevalier Roche Society & Global Giving Staff delivered the vote of thanks and this Training Programme accomplished successfully.
