VENUE: GOVT. MIDDLE SCHOOL, KAMARAJ NAGAR, THOOTHUKUDI
At Kamaraj Nagar area of Thoothukudi due to the rain fall during Sep. 2015 flood formed and this area was affected much. As it is a low lying area all houses of this location drowned into water and the people in this area lost most of their possessions. Many people sought the protected place and got refuge for about 20 days. During this flood disaster a plenty of people injured, fainted and they were affected much. Most of them were affected much as the others did know how to carry them to the protected areas. There was the situation that Recovery team had come there after many hours to protect them. Because that area was completely surrounded by flood, and many areas of this town was drowned in flood water and Recovery team also was in need to go to every place it took a long time to visit this area. In addition to this, people of this area were so far not provided with Trainings on Disaster recoveries. They were not courageous involve in recovery services. Therefore it was planned to Provide Disaster Recovery Training for young men and women, Boys & Girls School Students. If we do so there will be the chance for them to recover their vulnerable community.
DISASTER AWAREESS TRAINING FOR STUDENTS
By providing this Training to Boy & Girl students, we can form Disaster Recovery Teams. During the occurrence of any disaster in future, they will have the possibility to do the recovery services. Disasters are in two types they are 1. Natural disasters 2. Artificial disasters. We must develop the courage to protect ourselves and others and to escape from the Risks, if the disaster is occurred in any situation. We must umpire others with the self confidence for protecting our dependents, aged people, Women and Children. We must for firm the place and detail of Disaster to the Police Dept. (100), fire service Dept. (101) and to Ambulance (1056) with the particulars of land mark. Also we must explain in what way can easily come to the disaster affected zone without any hindrance. That shall be explained in detail. We must take necessary action and we should not wait until the recovery team comes to the disaster affected place. Before the arrival of recovery team at the disaster affected part, we must take immediate action to protect the disaster affected community, they must be dislocated from that area and arrange a vehicle to move them from the disaster affected zone. When there is any bad situation for as to struggle with out any helping persons, we can call on our friends, familiar people and known about personalities and we may ask them to help us in that situation. We shall not serve at a single place. We must divide and go to every direction and involve in the recovery work. Then only we can do the recovery work properly wherever the defect is found. In this fanner awareness was created among them.
DISASTER MOCK TRILL TRAINING FOR STUDENTS
After a community meet a disaster in what manner may the recovery work be done. This Mock Trill was performed with the help of Boy and Girl students. At first the Training was offered about how the injured person can be carried to the protected place. Beside the injured there are only two persons. The injured person is unable to stand up. In this situation he can be carried anywhere in the sitting position upon a chair. But there is no any equipments. Therefore existing 2 persons can join both of their hands with each other and make a chair like form. Four hands were joined with each other tightly. upon two hands injured person is kept in sitting position. Injured person bards are laid upon the shoulders of the helping person. If the injured person is carried in this manner with the co-operation of 2 persons injured persons weight ¼ portion is found decreased. That is why disaster affected person is carried easily to the place of protection or near by hospital or for providing any First Aid Treatment. In this manner women themselves can carry a woman. They need not seek any man’s help other than of themselves. It was demonstrated practically by students before the participants.
FIRST AID TRAINING
During the times of disaster many people are severely injured on their hands and legs. It takes a long time to carry them safely and get admitted them as soon as possible. That is why the victims are severely affected with acute pain and much bleeding. As soon as there are doctors or nurses are not found, the training was whatever is available in the soot for the First Aid treatment. In some occasions one of the Disaster times somebody get injured and meet scratches upon his bones. This condition will be much painful and fatal. In order to stop of this condition of pain, the hand or leg must be shaken up and down. In a certain stage is pain is decrease because bones have come to the right position. In that position, on both the sides of the bone flat sticks must be kept and surrounding those sticks a bandage must be made tightly with the help of soft clothes. In case of hand bone fractures a cloth must be tied surrounding the neck like a cradle pain will be decreased to a great extent. In this manner the injured person can be taken to a safety place them he or she may be admitted in a hospital. So, the injured person can get complete recovery soon. In such situation if the hemorrhage is too much instead of cotton cloth may be kept upon the injury, and that injury must be covered and tied tightly.
