The Karishma Ali Foundation (KAF) uses sport as a tool to empower girls and young women in underserved regions of Pakistan. Through safe, structured programs, KAF builds resilience, solidarity, and leadership by fostering teamwork and sisterhood. Now, KAF is building the first Sports and Community Center in Chitral, a hub for 30,000 people that will provide safe spaces, sports opportunities, and women-led livelihoods, creating long-term impact and community transformation.
In Pakistan, women and girls face double discrimination in accessing higher education, finding paid employment, and exercising civil and political rights. Part of the challenge is the lack of infrastructure and opportunities, but an even knottier issue is the lack of social spaces for women. As a result, they are excluded as productive members of society. According to research published in 2025 only 14.3% of Pakistani women aged 15-49 meet the WHO physical activity guidelines.
KAF will build a state-of-the-art Sports and Recreation Center designed to: Provide a safe football ground and training facilities for girls. Establish a community center with indoor games, cultural events, reading corners, and family activities. Launch girls' and boys' football academies, offering mentorship and discipline. Create income-generating spaces for women entrepreneurs through food stalls and small shops. Integrate eco-friendly construction with solar lighting, local architecture
This project will: Directly impact 1,000+ girls annually with safe sports opportunities. Provide structured activities for hundreds of boys, steering them away from drugs. Create jobs and support women-led businesses. Build community resilience and cohesion in Chitral. Serve as a replicable model for other regions of Pakistan Reduction in the high suicide rate among youth in Chitral
