To put into words the apocalyptic views of the destruction brought about by embers from a fire in Smokey Mountain National Park, is beyond description. It blew embers into the Gatlinburg area and lit up the community in less than 15 minutes with the aid of 90 mile an hour winds. The loss of lives, and the damage to over 100 properties, homes, businesses is massive; and, that is not the end of the the damage in Tennessee with more fires springing up by flying embers. Challenges are off the chart for rescuers, clean-up crews, and survivors, many who are left with nothing. Many animals were also affected. With so many forced out of their homes, and without jobs because their businesses had been destroyed, the needs are endless. Water, food, clothes, bedding, shelter, repairs, rebuilding, emotional needs, and Insurance assistance are just a few of the things that are on the list of needs. Without the media spreading the word, needs become harder to meet.
Do Your Part will assist in providing assistance in areas of greatest need, and will continue through the recovery phase. Do Your Part has a number of partners who will team up to cover the needs in many areas.
The long-term goal is to bring the survivors to sustainability, through all aspects of assistance possible; to assist in repairs and rebuilding to bring their community and homes back from the ashes and give new life.
