By DAVID OMONDI | FOUNDER/ EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Dear Friends,
Today, we are incredibly proud and grateful to share that all 15 housing units under Phase One of the Akili Suites project are now fully occupied. What began as a dream to create a sustainable future for vulnerable rural girls is now becoming a reality because of your generosity, belief, and partnership.
Over the past months, your support has enabled us to complete critical finishing works including electricity installation, painting, tiling, and furnishing of the units. Most recently, our friends Lauren and Bobby generously stepped in to support the construction of kitchen cabinets and wardrobes, work that is currently underway. These additions will greatly improve convenience for tenants, help them organize their living spaces comfortably, and encourage long-term occupancy of the units.
For the first time, ROF is building a predictable and locally generated source of monthly income that will help sustain scholarships for vulnerable girls from rural families. Instead of relying entirely on uncertain external donations, the Akili Suites project provides a path toward long-term sustainability and stability for our education programs.
Already, the income generated from the occupied units is strengthening our ability to keep girls in school, support students transitioning to college, and continue investing in mentorship, STEM education, and life-skills development. About 20 girls in our scholarship program are currently pursuing college education, breaking barriers and becoming role models in their communities.
This milestone would not have been possible without your kindness and faith in our vision. You have not only helped complete buildings; you have helped create hope, dignity, and sustainable opportunity for generations of girls to come.
We are excited about the future and hopeful about expanding this sustainability model further to support even more students and families in rural Kenya. ASANTENI SANA for every contribution that helped bring us closer to this moment.
With gratitude,
