Sixteen women entrepreneur from different surroundings of the Municipality of Chacao (Caracas, Venezuela) represented the first cohort of low income women participating in the "Women Entrepreneur Committee Program". They have received financial tools and entrepreneurship preparation ended last December 4th and received their certification at a publlic event celebrated with the presence of the Major of the mentioned Municipality of Chacao.
During the event, these women exposed their learnings and how the tools and knowledge provided helped them to identify their abilities and strengths and how to put into work their experiences and capacities in order to initiatite production teams in different areas within the culinary and artisan businesses. During that last class session these ladies presented their produces, invited their classmates to a tasting, presented their production and sales costs and a business plan to continue upon with a new income to sustain their lives. From this experience, 5 start ups were presented and some of them have already sold their produces at Christmas Fairs along the month.
This first cohort proves that there is long way to go to achieve our 800 women objective, that will surely be reached if contributors observe results and the way their funds are invested to improve other people quality of live. As we mentioned in our proposal, in Latinamerica 38% of households are women, who strive on a daily basis to sustain their children and homes. Helping them to identify their abilities and providing them the tools to be productive, we can change their lives for better. It might be consider a small effort if we compare this objective to the enormeous needs we face on a daily basis, but it is our way, our contribution, to diminish the gap.
