BARMM is among the poorest Philippine regions, with 63% poverty and 45% child stunting-both among the nation's worst. High infant and maternal mortality underscore the urgency. Intervention at ages 4-7 is critical. We're on a mission to pivot the future for 100 undernourished children with a 120-day nutrition program, including medically backed Vitamin K2-MK7 in their meals to boost overall health, appetite, bone growth, and cognition. With your support, we can break this cycle!
Stunting, which affects 45% of children under five in BARMM, is a severe form of chronic malnutrition that hinders physical growth, brain development, and future economic potential. Decades of conflict and natural disasters have caused intergenerational setbacks, leaving 49% of the population malnourished and about 240,000 children at risk. In response,ROFP aims to sustain its nutrition program at Batu-Batu Elementary School, Tawi-Tawi, building on two successful batches of beneficiaries.
After two successful batches, this program now expands its efforts to combat stunting by addressing nutritional deficiencies and promoting long-term well-being. We provide specially designed meals for undernourished children, co-developed with FNRI, now enhanced with a fortified drink enriched with Vitamin K2-MK7. This highly bioavailable form of Vitamin K supports bone mineralization by aiding calcium transport into bones and improve appetite in picky eaters, ensuring better nutrient intake.
This project addresses stunting among 100 children in Tawi-Tawi, where 45% of school-age kids are affected. By enhancing their nutrition with fortified meals and Vitamin K2-MK7, we support healthy growth, cognitive development, and overall well-being. Improved nutrition leads to better learning outcomes and higher earning potential in adulthood, fostering long-term economic mobility and breaking the cycle of poverty within their families and community.
