Help us fight malnutrition in Argentina

Brain development needs special materials to run properly: glucose, vitamins, minerals and other essential chemicals. If this complete menu is not delivered on time, brain and the central nervous system are exposed to high danger. Local community remains fully committed to this problem and we continue working with Conin Pilar, the Child Undernourishment Prevention and Human Promotion Center that is part of the “Red Conin” and follows its methodology to address the problem. Its aim is to take care of the attention, education and assistance of children between 0 to 5 years old with nutritional and social risk. We also work with pregnant women at risk of giving low birth weight children.

During this period, we could observe positive changes in the children´s physical and mental development and in nutritional habits. Also we could identify changes in families under program.

We have done several activities: family interviews in order to address their needs; workshops on integral stimulation including mothers, their babies and children between 2 to 5; health workshops; yoga workshops; gym lessons and more. This could help us give attention to more than 90 children and many families in nutrition, pediatrics, stimulation, psychology, etc.

We could do a lot but we still need your help!

Our main challenge is to manage the undernourishment problem, mostly a consequence of the extreme poverty and low education, focusing on the whole problem. Local community remains fully committed to this objective and we continue working with Conin Pilar, Conin Tigre, Conin Vicente Lopez the Child Undernourishment Prevention and Human Promotion Center that is part of the “Red Conin” and follows its methodology to address the problem. Its aim is to take care of the attention, education and assistance of children between 0 to 5 years old with nutritional and social risk. We also work with pregnant women at risk of giving low birth weight children.

The strategies to address this problem are the following:

• Periodic pediatric and nutritionist control for children
• Literacy program for children 2 to 5 years old
• Follow-up through the work of social assistants, interviews at the center and home visits.
• Workshop to stimulate both mothers and babies up to 2 years old.
• Nutritional workshops and cooking classes.
• Health programm workshop
• Knitting, sewing, gardening , pottery.
• Pre-natal workshops
• Program: Complementary food assistance
• Program for pregnant women at risk: medical check-ups, psychological support and informative workshops.

Remember that nourishing time is now, if not we are going to be very late to help this children grow in normal health conditions. The achievements encouraged us to do more with Conin and the community, and there are many families that remain undernourished and need your help now!
