Thank you for your support of this project, I'm writing to share some updates on ActionAid's response to the Ebola outbreak in the DRC.
ActionAid DRC is implementing a community-based emergency response to support communities affected by the Ebola outbreak in Ituri Province. Building on existing humanitarian programs, the response has integrated Ebola prevention, risk communication and strengthened infection prevention and control measures across 22 schools in Nizi, Lita and Nyankunde, reaching 6,600 children and 154 teachers. ActionAid is also working with 22 women’s groups, 22 men’s groups, community networks and local radio stations, with radio messaging reaching more than 150,000 listeners. These activities promote Ebola prevention alongside safeguarding, GBV, PSEA/SHEA and community protection mechanisms.
The response has so far reached 183,600 people, including 33,000 through WASH and hygiene support, 150,000 through education and awareness activities, and 600 vulnerable households through cash assistance. Cash support is prioritizing women and girls in vulnerable households, helping address immediate needs, reduce protection risks and strengthen resilience.
ActionAid has also been designated to support early reporting and referral, sharing real-time information from affected areas and coordinating information across strategic locations as the outbreak continues to place significant pressure on already vulnerable communities.
Thank you for your support!
