Fighting child malnutrition in poor areas of Peru

During the first half of 2025, our efforts to fight child malnutrition and promote healthy early development in Southern Lima have expanded significantly. Through community-based work in vulnerable areas, United Way Perú and our partners are creating meaningful change by supporting children, families, and early education professionals.

Here’s a quick snapshot of our impact from January to June 2025:

• 82 families received personalized support to improve child nutrition, hygiene, and development — including 28 families directly supported thanks to the generosity of GlobalGiving donors.
• 43 pregnant women joined our prenatal health and nutrition program, ensuring healthier pregnancies and babies.
• 2 socio-emotional support spaces were provided for the families and educators.
• 1 digital resource was developed to reinforce learning for families and educators.

While we are proud of this progress, the need remains great. Continued support allows us to reach more children and break the cycle of malnutrition and poverty from the earliest stages of life.
