In Sri Lanka, over 30,000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year, including around 1,500 children. Many, especially children from low-income families, struggle to access treatment and care. This project supports cancer patients, with a focus on children, by providing medicines, nutrition, and emotional support to improve survival, recovery, and hope of life.
Cancer patients in Sri Lanka, especially children and those in rural areas, face challenges like limited access to affordable treatment, lack of specialized care facilities, and financial hardship. This burden worsens their physical and emotional suffering, leaving families in debt and despair. The national economic crisis deepens their vulnerability, while shortages of medicines and supportive care further diminish their chances of recovery and quality of life.
This project will provide cancer patients, especially children from low-income and rural families, with free or subsidized treatment, essential medicines, and regular medical care to ease their financial burden. It will also offer nutritional support, counseling, and awareness programs to improve recovery and emotional well-being. By addressing healthcare gaps and empowering families, the project gives patients a better chance at survival, dignity, and hope for the future.
This project will improve survival rates and quality of life for cancer patients, especially children, by ensuring timely treatment and support. Families will face less financial hardship, and patients will have better chances of returning to school, work, and normal life. Over time, increased awareness and access to care will foster a more resilient, compassionate society where cancer patients are empowered to live with dignity and hope.
