Our Pig Project continues to develop in the village of Cyaruzinge. The original number of people with pigs has grown from 4 families to 25 families! Of these, the majority of pig-owners have reported to HDI staff that they have made a profit from owning pigs. They have told us that their quality of life has improved with the additional income because now it is easier for them to buy basic commodities.
13 new piglets have been born in the past few months. Cooperative members have taken this opportunity to diversify their income-generation. Two people have sold pigs and used that money to rent a plot of land to grow more food for their family. Other community members have sold their pig and used that money to buy either a chicken or goat to start a new business.
HDI is immensely proud of the cooperative’s hard work and dedication. We will continue to support and advise them. Thank you for your help in making the pig cooperative a success!
