The Bulgarian Creative Writing Competition in English aims to encourage and expand the creative thinking among the students, as well as to enhance their English language communication and writing skills. Students will further demonstrate the potential and value of thinking outside the box. They will be given the opportunity to express their unique thoughts while writing on the given topics. The special focus will be put on involving and preparing students from small undeserved communities.
The creative writing is still a relatively new concept for Bulgarian schools, especially for those in smaller communities. Students are given so few opportunities to express their creative way of thinking and are inclined to uniformity and cheating. This competition aims to stimulate imaginative thinking and writing by exposing teachers and students to new material and ideas, and to reward pupils for their work on a level comparable to that of traditional contests.
The English Creative Writing Competition enables students to express themselves in a purely creative format, while providing teachers the opportunity to employ new lesson plans and practice their English as judges. Training conducted by American teacher trainers will be offered to English language teachers from small communities. They will be introduced to this concept and will acquire knowledge which will help them prepare better their students for the competition.
This competition will stimulate students' ability to think creatively and express freely their thoughts in both academic and professional settings.
